Meet the Maker - Toneylynn Papa

Hello Friend!

Now that we've been introduced, I wanted you to get to know a little bit more about me and this adorable business of mine. 

My name is Toneylynn and I'm the Hand Lettering and Calligraphy Artist of Darling Daydream.
I began lettering in October 2015 and haven't stopped since!

When I began working as a performer on a cruise ship, I found that once things had finally settled down, I needed a creative outlet that was easy to travel with, to get me through my 9 month long contracts at sea. Since guitars tend to be a little bulky, and coloring just wasn't relaxing enough for me, I decided to give calligraphy a go! 

I took my very first workshop on October 24th 2015, with Julia Mattox of Luminous Lines. This was a modern calligraphy workshop where I learned how to use a pointed pen and ink. Naturally, I was AWFUL at first but I enjoyed it so much I just wanted to practice all of the time. I eventually transitioned to brush lettering and began writing positive quotes and song lyrics to hang on the walls of my cabin on the ship.

It is this practice of writing the things that I needed to hear that has stuck with me to this day. You'll see that I still choose to write these kinds of messages in hopes that the things I need to hear are also what others need to hear for themselves.
